Sean Giles recorded a team high time on ice for the season with 32:25 played, the previous best was Jonas Emmerdahl with over 32 minutes logged in an overtime game.
The Flyers scored broke their powerplay drought with their first man advantage goal in seven games.
The Flyers longest period of time without a goal on the road was broken with Kyle Osterberg’s goal – having been shutout in their last three games the drought was ended at 214 minutes and 15 seconds – the previous longest period of time spanned the end of last season and the start of this one when again the Flyers were shutout over three games and didn’t score in a span of 206 minutes and 6 seconds over five games.

Sheffield Steelers 7 Fife Flyers 4 – Elite League
The Steelers made it 14 consecutive games without defeat on home ice against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions – the Flyers last win in Yorkshire being 17th October 2018.
The Flyers prevented going a fifth consecutive game in the league without a goal against the Steelers at the Utilita Arena – the time between their last goal, scored by Brandon Magee and Anthon Eriksson’s strike was 255 minutes and 24 seconds of play.
The Flyers gave up two short handed goals, making it five on the season with three coming against the Steelers – the last time they gave up two in a game was against Belfast in last season’s Challenge Cup final.
One of the above shorties was scored into an empty net, the 6th empty net conceded by Flyers on the season.
Flyers have only once scored more than three goals on a visit to the Sheffield Arena – it happened to be on their first ever visit to meet the Steelers when they lost 5-7 on 20th September 1992. Whilst they did score four against the Steelers in Sheffield in the Challenge Cup in January 2016 the game was played at Ice Sheffield. That’s 44 games between the teams first encounter and this one.
Lucas Chiodo became the 7th Flyer to score a brace of goals in a game this season – no Flyer has yet recorded a hat trick.
On Sunday night……
Fife Flyers 4 Cardiff Devils 1 – Elite League
This was the Flyers first win in eight games against the Devils who were looking to create a new record win streak against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.
This was the Devils biggest defeat of the season so far.
The win halted the Flyers run of eight consecutive losses, a season high across all teams this season.
Kyle Osterberg scored the Flyers first short handed goal at home this season – the other coming on the road.
Kyle Osterberg bettered his own team leading time on ice for a forward of 27:47 by playing 28:04.
Vitalijs Pavlovs leads the team with the best goals scored to shots ratio at 17.6% – three others are tied for second place with a 13.6% efficiency; Kyle Osterberg, Teemu Pulkkinen and Johan Eriksson.
Troy Lajeunesse remains the leader with most shots with 90 for the season so far.
