The Flyers welcomed the Cardiff Devils to Kirkcaldy who were playing their third game in three nights after having been defeated in their outings in Glasgow and Dundee. The visitors were without Riley Brandt, Cedric Lacroix and Nolan Yaremenko. The Flyers scratches were the injured trio of Mason Alderson, Justin Ducharme and Jonas Emmerdahl.
Cardiff looked sharp from puck drop and in the opening four minutes hemmed the Flyers into their own zone and fired a number of pucks on Owen who comfortably dealt with them all. The pressure however told with the opening goal at 4:54 when the Flyers turned the puck over at their blueline and Brett Ferguson picked it up to find Kohen Olischefski with a pass and he roofed the puck over a sprawling Shane Owen. The Flyers first shot on Ben Bowns came in the 7th minute from Ethan Hadden but the Devils netminder made a pad save. Owen was in action a minute later as both Cole Sanford and Brett Perlini were denied as the Devils transitioned quickly. In the 10th minute Garet Hunt fired a shot that hit Bowns in the logo. Joey Martin burst through the Flyers rearguard in the 15th minute and as he went in on net Andrew McLean was called for a hold to put the Devils on the first powerplay of the game. Jeremy Masella made a huge shot block from a Josh MacDonald one timer that left the Flyers blueliner to hobble back to the bench and straight to the room and he would not return in the game. The Devils made their man advantage count as they worked the puck around to Martin and from the circles he picked the top corner past a screened Owen. In the 17th minute Ryan Nicholson put his stick into the feet of a Devil who stood on his stick which drew a tripping call to put the visitors back on the powerplay. The Flyers completed the kill without the Devils creating a chance of note. In the final 30 seconds of the period Sanford was released by Martin and Owen came up with a shoulder save.

The Flyers started the second period brightly and had some zone time in the Devils end of the ice that ended with an Ian Scheid shot in the 22nd minute that Bowns gloved. Great work by McLean in the 26th minute saw him fashion an opening for Jaka Sturm who could not get enough on his shot to trouble Bowns from close range. The Devils grabbed the next goal at 29:55 as they executed on an odd man break and Ferguson saw his shot saved by Owen who could do nothing to stop Jimmy Oligny netting the rebound on the backhand. In the 33rd minute Ethan Somoza battled hard to win a puck behind the Devils net and his pass out front landed on the stick of Johan Porsberger who saw his shot swallowed by Bowns. In the 35th minute a shot from Simon Despres rebounded from the back boards and Vlastimil Dostalek tried to stuff it home on the short side but Bowns sealed his post. The Flyers got a goal back at 36:07 when Josh Winquist delivered a pass to Nicholson up on the blueline and he put the puck on net. It hit a Devils defenceman and dropped on the stick of Giordano Finoro who swept it past Bowns. The Devils almost replied when Olischefski kept possession of the puck before feeding it to Evan Mosey at the far past but he shot wide. The Flyers made it a one shot game at 37:45 when Keaton Jameson showed great patience and vision on the half boards as he found Hunt all alone at the top of the Devils crease and he beat Bowns with a low back hand shot.

In the opening minute of the 3rd period the Flyers lost possession in the Devils zone and were almost punished on the counter attack as Sanford skated in on Owen and tried to beat him 5 hole but he shut the door. In the 42nd minute Ryan Barrow made contact with Owen at the edge of his crease and the Flyers went on the power play. Ferguson had a short handed bid saved by Owen and the Flyers best chance before Devils returned to full strength fell to Finoro but Bowns got a piece of the puck to keep it out of his net. The Devils regained their two goal advantage at 45:52 as a Bayley Harewood shot rebounded from the back boards and Kristoff Kontos was first to react to lift the puck into the roof of the net. Connor Caponi was called for delay of game when he shot the puck over the glass in the 47th minute to put the Flyers on the power play. Porsberger tested Bowns with a shot but 22 seconds into the man advantage Scheid was called for boarding as the teams skated 4 on 4. Finoro almost had his second of the night when he latched on to a Hunt shot that came back off the end boards but Bowns made a sprawling save. Gleason Fournier saw a shot graze the post as the Devils returned for full strength and then the Flyers killed the short Devils power play. The visitors killed the game as they added two more goals in less than 60 seconds. The first at 48:59 when the Flyers switched off to a long dump in that wasn’t called for icing and the Devils retrieved the puck to set up Barrow who finished from the slot and then at 49:43 with the Flyers defence at sixes and sevens Sanford buried a shot from out in front of a helpless Owen. The Devils tails were up and the Flyers looked a demoralised bunch as Ferguson added another at 52:27 when his shot pass deflected past Owen off of a skate. The Devils went back on the power play in the 55th minute as Harewood burst up ice on a breakaway and McLean was called for a hook and they made the Flyers pay as Olischefski ripped a shot into the far corner of the net with a mass of humanity in front of Owen. In the final minute Finoro took the puck to the net but dragged his shot wide.
