The Kingdom Weekend Recap – Week 9

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 1                              Nottingham Panthers 4            –   Elite League    

The Panthers stretched their unbeaten run in Kirkcaldy to 6 games which equals their best ever sequence on Flyers ice in the EIHL era.

Congratulations to Brodie Kay who made his 100th appearance for the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.

Congratulations also to Kian Shevlin on his debut appearance for the Flyers making him the 206th player to play for the club in the EIHL era.

Mitch Fossier’s hat trick was the 4th for the Panthers against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.

Andrew McLean logged a team high time on ice for the season with 31:36 played.

The Flyers gave up their first Empty Net Goal of the season which was their 104th in all EIHL competitions and the 10th scored by the Panthers against them.

 

On Sunday night……

Coventry Blaze 4                   Fife Flyers 1                             –   Elite League    

The Blaze extended their best ever wining sequence against the Flyers in the EIHL era to 8 games.

It was the first time for the Flyers in all EIHL competitions that two penalty shots were awarded in the same game.

All time in the EIHL the opposition are now 11 and 6 on their penalty shots attempts against the Flyers which is a 64.7 percent conversion rate.

The Blaze are 4 and 0 on penalty shots against the Flyers.

The Flyers gave up their first short handed goal of the season. Their 113th in all EIHL competitions and their 5th against the Blaze.

71 face offs tied a high for a Flyers game this season.

In the two games against the Blaze this season the Flyers are a plus 39 at the dot winning 82 and losing 43 draws which is 57 percent. Giordano Finoro is 73 percent over those two games.

The Flyers winless streak extended to 14 games which ties their longest ever without a victory in all EIHL competitions.

The two other similar runs were in seasons 2019/20 and their inaugural 2011/12 campaign.

During the current run 2 points have been picked up in defeats beyond regulation whilst in the 2019/20 run only 1 point was gained with 3 points from two shoot out losses and an OT loss picked up in the 2011/12 sequence.
