Fife Flyers 1 Guildford Flames 6 – Elite League
Flyers lost their 10th straight against the Flames which is a best sequence for the Surrey side against Fife in the EIHL era and they also have now won on their last 5 visits to Kirkcaldy which again is their best streak in all EIHL competitions.
Flyers have only 3 wins in their last 25 meetings against the Flames in all EIHL competitions.
The Flyers when on the penalty kill have now given up a goal in their last 5 games which is a season high.
The Flames 5 goals in the third period equals a team high conceded at home in all EIHL competitions. The game in question was 2nd March 2013 against the Panthers – a game which also saw the Flyers give up 3 goals in 39 seconds with the Flames scoring 3 in 76 seconds in this game.
It was the second time this season that the Flames have scored 5 in a period against the Flyers with the Devils and Giants also hitting that number.
With this game ending January we look back at the Flyers historical record in the EIHL era for that month.

On Sunday night……
Sheffield Steelers 8 Fife Flyers 0 – Elite League
The Flyers winless run at the Utilita Arena against the Steelers was extended to 22 games which remains the longest streak on the road against any team in all EIHL competitions.
The Flyers 7th time being shutout this season and the its now the 12th shutout the Steelers have recorded against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions which is joint second most along with the Cardiff Devils with the Belfast Giants 16.
Overall the Flyers have been shutout in 76 matches in all EIHL competitions with 50 of those coming on the road.
The Flyers gave up two shorthanded goals in the game for the 8th time in all EIHL competitions.
It was the first time however that they conceded two shorties on the same powerplay with three previous occasions of giving up goals on back to back powerplays.
The Steelers have now scored 16 shorthanded against Fife in all EIHL competitions which is joint second most along with Glasgow and behind the 18 that Belfast have scored.
In total the Flyers have now conceded 115 shorthanded goals in the EIHL era.
