Weekend Recap – Week 27

On Wednesday night……

Fife Flyers 2       Cardiff Devils 6           –  Elite League   

The Devils swept the Flyers on the season with their 6th consecutive win. It is the second time that the Flyers have been winless against the Devils in league play in an EIHL season, the last time being the Flyers inaugural 2011/12 campaign.

The Flyers have now conceded their most league goals in a season at home in the EIHL era.

The Flyers conceded a power play goal for the 6th consecutive match which is their longest stretch of the season.

Shane Owen played his 350th game for the Flyers and is currently 6th in all time EIHL appearances for the club.

On Saturday night……

Guildford Flames 4           Fife Flyers 1           –  Elite League   

Guildford remained perfect on the season against the Flyers with their 5th consecutive win.

Flames had 62 shots on goal which is the most given up by the Flyers in a game this season.

Kieran Craig scored for the third consecutive games which ties him with Lucas Chiodo and Phelix Martineau as the longest scoring streak of the season

It was the 7th consecutive game the Flyers have given up a power play goal – the longest streak of season and longest since season 2022/23 when they conceded power play goals in 9 straight games.

The Flyers scored their first power play goal against the Flames this season, the only team they had not scored a goal against with the man advantage – they are now 1 for 18 against the Flames.

 

On Sunday night……

Fife Flyers 2          Coventry Blaze 3        –  Elite League   

The Blaze remained perfect against the Flyers on the season with their 5th straight win.

This is the best sequence of results for the Blaze in all EIHL competitions against the Flyers.

Alessio Luciani now has 8 goals against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions and is one behind all-time Blaze leader Ben Lake for goals against Fife.

Kieran Craig had his goal scoring streak snapped at three games.

Jānis Voris recorded his second assist on the season with his previous also coming against the Blaze on their last visit to Fife in January.

The Flyers broke their sequence of conceding power play goals going perfect on the kill for the first time in 8 games.

The Flyers were a plus on face offs for the first time in 15 games and their plus 8 was their best of the entire season.
