Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are pleased to announce the addition of James Spence for the 2024/25 season.
The 22 year old right wing returns for his 4th season with the Flyers. A product of Kirkcaldy Ice Hockey’s junior development system James played for the Fife Flames before moving to Canada to play Under 18 hockey at the Ontario Hockey Academy for three seasons. He then spent 18 months in Poland playing in the third tier league for Opole where he played 37 games recording 18 goals and 20 assists having finished top 20 in all league scoring in his first season.
He joined the Flyers in season 2021/22 and he dressed in his first game in Belfast in December. The following night in his home debut against the Manchester Storm he picked up his first point in senior hockey.
Over the last three seasons James has gone on to make 118 appearances for the Flyers and last season also iced on a two way contract with the Kirkcaldy Kestrels scoring 10 goals and 11 assists in 19 games.
James will again this season be on a 2-way contract with the Kirkcaldy Kestrels.
On signing Spence Coach Tom Coolen commented ‘James gives us much needed depth at the forward position and is still developing. He contributes both on and off the ice to the Fife Flyers.’
On returning to the Flyers Spence added ‘I am delighted to sign back with the flyers for another season. This year’s team looks strong and confident. I am hoping to play my role within the club. I am looking forward to getting back into the auld barn in-front of the most passionate fans in the league.’
