Weekend Recap – Week 21

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 9 Nottingham Panthers 7 – Elite League

It was the Flyers first win against the Panthers this season following two previous defeats.

Five third period goals are the most goals in a period this season for the Flyers having previously twice scored four.

Nine goals is the highest total Flyers have scored in all EIHL competitions since putting ten past the Edinburgh Capitals on Boxing Day 2017 which is also their most number goals in a game in the EIHL era. They have also previously hit nine goals three times before, twice against the Edinburgh Capitals and once against the Belfast Giants.

16 is the highest goals aggregate in a game that the Flyers have been involved in during their EIHL era. The previous highest aggregate was 14 goals which has occurred against the Edinburgh Capitals, Cardiff Devils and Braehead Clan.

Congratulations to Troy Lajeunesse on his first Flyers hat trick.

It is only the second time in all EIHL competitions that the Flyers have scored back to back hat tricks in games – Evan Bloodoff bagged tricks (one of which was a 4 goal performance) in October 2017 against the Edinburgh Capitals and Braehead Clan.

Troy Lajeunesse extended his points streak to 12 games

Johan Eriksson has an active goals streak of three games – the season best for the team is Collin Shirley with goals in five straight games.

The Flyers have now gone five consecutive games scoring a powerplay goal, this equals their season best so far.

 

On Sunday night……

Guildford Flames 2 Fife Flyers 3 – Elite League

Flyers won their first game in eight at the Spectrum, Flames seven wins is their best streak at home against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.

It was also the Flyers first win in their last six meetings overall with the Flames.

Troy Lajeunesse had his points streak end at 12 games, joint second highest during the Flyers EIHL era.

The active streak is now held by Lucas Chiodo, Johan Eriksson and Aleksi Mäkelä who each have four game streaks.

Johan Eriksson extends his goals streak to 4 games.

Flyers made it six straight games with a powerplay goal which is a season best so far.

Max Humitz had his first Game Winning Goal of the season – the Flyers have nine different players with GWG’s.

The last time the Flyers were in a playoff position this season was week commencing 27th November.
