Weekend Recap – Week 20

On Saturday night……

Manchester Storm 5 Fife Flyers 4   (Overtime) – Elite League

The Storm made it four consecutive wins at home against the Flyers which is their best ever run in all EIHL competitions.

It’s the second time the Flyers have failed to pick up at least one win on the road in a season in Manchester.

Dominik Salama became the 21st player to make his playing debut this season, that extends the most number of debutants in any season for the Flyers.

The Flyers gave up their 9th short-handed goal of the season – Glasgow Clan are next most with 5 short-handed goals given up.

It was the first time that the Flyers have scored multiple power play goals on the road this season.

Flyers are also now 1 win and 5 losses in overtime decisions this season – it’s the most lost OT games for Flyers in a season in all EIHL competitions.

Kyle Osterberg had his first multi goal game for the Flyers – he is the 8th player to do so this season.

Troy Lajeunesse extended his points streak to 10 games which is the highest for a season since Paul Crowder did likewise in season 2018/19.

On Sunday night……

Fife Flyers 4 Manchester Storm 1 – Elite League

The Flyers recorded their 4th consecutive win at home against Manchester which is their best ever sequence against the Storm in all EIHL competitions.

Troy Lajeunesse made it points in 11 straight games which is the best points sequence for Flyers since the 2013/14 season when Bobby Chaumont and Jordan Fulton had 12 game streaks and that same season Ned Lukacevic went 17 games with points which stands as the Flyers record in the EIHL.

Congratulations to Johan Eriksson who scored the Flyers first hat trick of the season. It was also the first time a Flyers player has scored three goals in a game against the Manchester Storm in the EIHL era.

The last hat trick scorer was Zack Phillips against Dundee Stars on 14th December 2022.

Season 2021/22 remains the only season that the Flyers have failed to have a hat trick scorer and they now have 34 in all EIHL competitions.

The Flyers second goal of the night was their 1000th (including shoot out goals) at home in regular season EIHL games.
