Weekend Recap – Week 11

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 2 Coventry Blaze 4 – Elite League

The Coventry Blaze recorded their first win of the season against the Flyers following three consecutive defeats.

Vitalijs Pavlovs made his Flyers debut – the 17th player to do so this season for the Flyers.

Vitalijs is the 6th Latvian born player to ice for the Flyers.

Congratulations to Sean Giles for scoring his first Flyers goal and also to Vitalijs Pavlovs for his first point for the Flyers.

The Blaze scored their first short handed goal of the season, the second conceded by the Flyers. It was also an empty net goal, the 5th conceded by the Flyers this season.

On Sunday night……

Guildford Flames 2 Fife Flyers 0 – Elite League

The Guildford Flames won their second game against the Flyers on home ice this season and extended their winning streak against Fife at the Spectrum to seven games, their best in the EIHL.

It was Guildford’s first shutout of the season but means the Flyers have now been blanked six times this season which leads all teams.

Brett Ferguson’s two goals puts him a couple behind Ian Watters as the Flames all time leading goal scorer against Fife in all EIHL competitions.
