Weekend Recap – Week 10

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 2 Manchester Storm 1 – Elite League

The Flyers recorded their fourth consecutive win, a season high win streak. Flyers 4th win in a row.

It is the first time since September 2019 that the Flyers have won four consecutive games.

This was the Flyers third consecutive win against the Storm on home ice, this ties the Flyers best ever sequence against the Manchester side.

The game marked the Flyers 600th regular season league game in the EIHL and their 300th at home in league play. At home they have a record of 148 Wins and 152 losses and an overall record of 242 wins and 358 losses.

Teemu Pulkkinen now leads the team with game winning goals as he notched his third of the season.

Collin Shirley scored in a fifth consecutive game – a team high for the season.

Troy Lajeunesse had his six game points streak ended – also a team high for the season.

On Sunday night……

Cardiff Devils 6 Fife Flyers 0 – Elite League

The Devils continued their winning streak on home ice against the Flyers as they recorded their 11th consecutive win – their best sequence against Fife in all EIHL competitions.

The Flyers have now been shut out in consecutive games against Cardiff, both played in Wales, the Flyers have played almost 8 periods since their last goal on Cardiff ice.

It’s the 5th time the Flyers have been shutout this season, which leads all teams.

The Devils have now blanked the Flyers 10 times in 59 matches across all EIHL competitions.

Cole Sully’s hat trick for the Devils was their third against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.

Joey Martin who is the highest scoring Devil all time against the Flyers added to his tally and is now on 21 goals.

The Flyers were awarded their third penalty shot of the season and have yet to concede one.  Teemu Pulkkinen’s miss means the Flyers are 1 and 2 on the season and 6 goals and 6 misses in all EIHL competitions.

Kyle Osterberg missed his first game of the season leaving only five players who are now ever present this term.
