Weekend Recap – Week 2

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 5 Manchester Storm 6  – Elite League

The last time an opponent had a penalty free game against the Flyers was last April in the playoff quarter final against the Steelers when both teams in back to back games were penalty free.

Nottingham Panthers on 18th December 2022 were the last team in a league game against the Flyers not to take a penalty.

Loren Ulett is the third Storm player to score a hat trick against the Flyers and he is the first to score four in a game against Fife since Ryan Penny did so for Coventry Blaze in a 6-2 win at the Skydome 23rd January 2022.

The only other players to score more than three in a game against the Flyers in the EIHL era are: Robert Dowd (4) at Kirkcaldy on 17th November 2018 in a 6-2 Steelers win and the following road games, Steve Saviano (4) in a 7-2 Giants win on 25th February 2017,  Ryan Ginand (4) for Coventry in a 6-1 win on 15th September 2013, Drew Miller (4) in a 5-3 Clan win on 5th December 2012 and Mike Bayrack (4) for Clan in their 10-1 demolition on 12th November 2011.

Congratulations to Nikolai Shulga on his first goal for Flyers
