Known for his reliable defensive play, physical presence and team-first approach, Pierce established himself as a dependable contributor capable of playing in all situations. His leadership qualities were recognised during his time at Minnesota Duluth, where he served as an alternate captain in 2024/25 before being named team captain for the 2025/26 season.

Prior to his collegiate career, Pierce competed in the USHL with the Lincoln Stars and spent time in the NAHL with the Minnesota Wilderness, following an impressive high school career in Minnesota.
