Fife Flyers are delighted to unveil the launch of a new Alumni Association to honour and celebrate their past players.
The club, the oldest in the UK, will host a first ever Hall of Fame night, as well as launching a new reminiscing group which will be open to fans to attend along with past and present players. Former players will also be special guests of honour during the season, with the annual Retro Night planned for March 2027 set to honour another landmark line-up.
The Flyers Alumni Association follows on from the hugely successful reunion of the 1985 British Championship winning team last year when Canadian stars Ron Plumb, Dave Stoyanovich and Danny Brown joined the home-based players at a live show at Rothes Halls in Glenrothes, and a special brunch at the Strathearn Hotel Kirkcaldy as well as an exhibition at the Kirkcaldy Galleries, with the events raising £6000 for CHAS and Maggie’s Fife.
The organising team behind that reunion are now working with Flyers’ management and ownership group to formally launch the Alumni Association which recognises any player or coach to have represented the club in a competitive game. The aim is to honour players on match nights as well as host social events, along with special celebrations.
The organising team have also spoken to several former players to ensure their input shapes the initiative, and an Alumni Association Committee committee will be formed to drive it forward over the coming season. With 88 years of history, Flyers are rich in alumni – from Grand Slam winning teams to award-winning coaches and players who have given incredible service over many seasons.

Our Alumni programme is about bringing those people back together, recognising their achievements and ensuring they always have a place within the Flyers family. We want former players and staff to know that their contributions will never be forgotten, and we look forward to celebrating our shared history while building an even strong club together” said Fife Flyers Chief Executive Officer John Brown
Fife Flyers Historian, John Ross, on behalf of the organising team, said: “The response to last year’s reunion of the 1985 team was overwhelmingly positive, and gave us the confidence to move forward with this new Alumni initiative. We have so much history to celebrate and look forward to connecting with as many former players as possible and welcoming them rink side and to the various events. This is our very public thank you for the contributions they have made, and a fantastic chance for today’s fans to also honour, and reconnect with great players across the decades.”
