Fife Flyers Bolster Blue Line with the Signing of Max Coyle

The Fife Flyers are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian defenseman Max Coyle for the 2026/27 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

The 28-year-old arrives in Fife following a professional career in North America and Europe, bringing reliability and valuable experience to the Flyers’ defensive unit.

A native of Tillsonburg, Ontario, Coyle developed through the junior ranks before helping the Prince George Spruce Kings win the 2019 BCHL Championship. He then moved to the NCAA, spending his freshman season at the University of Alabama Huntsville before moving to Bowling Green State University.

During three seasons with the Falcons of Bowling Green State University, Coyle established himself as a dependable member of the team and earned the role of assistant captain in his senior campaign. During this time he was also recognised twice on the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team.

Following the conclusion of his NCAA career, Coyle turned pro icing in the ECHL for both the Indy Fuel and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Most recently Coyle took his defensive abilities overseas, icing for Danish side Aalborg Pirates.

Head Coach and General Manager Tim Wallace believes Coyle will add an important presence to the Flyers’ defensive group, saying “Max is a solid defenseman who skates well, holds a good gap, plays physically and has a strong stick. We will rely on him to be dependable and move the puck efficiently.”

“Max is highly regarded as a great teammate and will bring leadership and competitiveness to our back end. He wanted to come to Fife and help us reach our goals, and we are excited to have him.”
