The Kingdom Weekend Recap – Week 27

On Friday night……

Nottingham Panthers 6                    Fife Flyers 2                                        –   Elite League

The Panthers remained unbeaten against the Flyers this season and were the only team to sweep Fife in this campaign.

It was the second time the Flyers were held without a point against the Panthers in an EIHL season with the last being 2012/13.

It was the Flyers 13th consecutive loss against the Panthers which is their longest winless streak in the fixture in the EIHL era.

The Flyers all-time record for games played on Friday the 13th now stands at 4-2-1 with the record for those played in the EIHL being 0-2-1

One other notable Friday 13th was in 2020 when the Flyers game against Coventry was postponed as the country went into the pandemic lockdown.

Congratulations to Cole Giannandrea on his debut as he became the 234th player to play in all EIHL competitions for the Flyers and 28th player to make a debut this season which is second most in an EIHL season behind 29 from last term.

The Flyers have now iced 35 players this season which ties with last term as the highest number in an EIHL campaign.

Cole Giannandrea wore the #32 which was last used in season 2017/18 by Peter LeBlanc and those are the only skaters to wear the number with four previous goalies wearing the number.

It was the first time in 9 game that the Flyers were a plus at the face off dot.

Panthers Matthew Marcinew scored for the 5th consecutive game to tie a season best team high.

On Sunday night……

Fife Flyers 2      Manchester Storm 4                        –   Elite League

Congratulations to Jonas Emmerdahl who played his 300th game and became the 9th player in the EIHL era to play 300 or more games.

He also became the 34th player all-time in Flyers history to make 300 appearances.

The Flyers ended a streak of 15 games in which they were outshot which was 1 game short of their season longest streak of being outshot.

It was the first Flyers game this season where neither side had a powerplay.
