Fife Flyers 4 Guildford Flames 3 – Elite League
The Flyers ended their two longest run of defeats against the Flames in all EIHL competitions at 10 consecutive games and 5 home games respectively.
Cole Ully became only the 2nd Flames player in all EIHL competitions to score a hattrick against the Flyers the other also came this season at Kirkcaldy when Jamal Watson hit a treble.
It was the second time that Ully has scored a hattrick against the Flyers as he made that mark with the Glasgow Clan last season and again this was at Kirkcaldy.
Jeremy Masella had his first multi-point game of the season.
Mason Alderson’s first goal in EIHL league play was also the game winner and he became the 9th different Flyers player this year to have a game winning goal.
The Flames have now lost 22 goals in the final 10 minutes of all games on the road this year which is their leakiest spell in any 10 minute segment – at home however they have only given up 6 in that same time frame which is equal fewest in any 10 minute segment.
The Flyers have scored 20 goals in the last 10 minutes of their home matches this season which is their most productive spell of gametime either at home or on the road.
The Flames are now 1 and 14 in all EIHL competitions this season when they lose the third period.
On Sunday night……
Dundee Stars 5 Fife Flyers 2 – Elite League
Stars recorded their first regulation win of the season against the Flyers which was a stretch of 8 games.
The Stars three powerplay goals is the most given up in a game by the Flyers this season.
49 shots on goal was the highest for Stars in a game this season as they eclipsed the 48 they put on the Flyers back in September
The Stars had 6 powerplays in the game which was again a season high as were the 3 counters scored with the man advantage.
Ian Scheid now leads the Flyers on the season for powerplay assists.
