The Kingdom Weekend Recap – Week 3

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 5       Dundee Stars 1            –  Challenge Cup    

The Flyers snapped their worst losing steak in the EIHL against the Stars on home ice at 4 games.

Congratulations to Jaka Šturm who made his Flyers debut – Jaka is the 4th Slovenian national to play for the Flyers.

Congratulations also to Vlastimil Dostalek on making his competitive debut for the Flyers, the 202nd player to do so for the club during the EIHL era.

Staying with firsts, there were first goals in Flyers colours for Vlastimil Dostalek, Keaton Jameson and Johan Porsberger.

Vlastimil Dostalek became the 38th player to score on his debut in the EIHL era and the 173rd all-time in Flyers history.

Also congratulations to Jeremy Masella for his first point for the club.

The Stars goal ended the Flyers sequence of not conceding a goal at 75 minutes and 58 seconds which is the longest so far this season.

The Flyers scored their first powerplay goal of the season ending a run of 0 for 15 with the man advantage which equalled their longest drought since December 2024.

Johan Porsberger became the 35th Flyers player to score an empty net goal and it was the Flyers 14th empty netter in all competitions against the Stars.

Five goals is the most the Flyers have scored against the Stars in their last 13 meetings.

On Sunday night……

Dundee Stars 5          Fife Flyers 4     Overtime              –  Challenge Cup    

The Flyers secured points in back to back games for the first time since March 2024.

Congratulations to Jaka Šturm on scoring his first goal for the Flyers.

The Flyers are now 34-37 in games that have been decided in overtime in all EIHL competitions.

The penalty shot awarded to Stars was the 14th against the Flyers in their EIHL era – the miss by Spencer Naas was the 6th failed conversion attempt.

Josh Winquist with 11 is tied for the lead in Challenge Cup points along with Tristin Langan of the Clan – he leads all players in assists in the competition with 8.

The Stars had 48 shots on net which is a season high so far given up by the Flyers.

Keaton Jameson, Garet Hunt, Josh Winquist and Johan Porsberger all have a 3 game points streak active which is a team high so far this season.

With a new month dawning we can now look back at how the Flyers have fared in the month of September during the EIHL
