Statement regarding pre-season games vs Brasov

The Fife Flyers would like to advise that Thursday’s (28th August) & Saturday’s (30th August) pre-season opponents CSM Corona Brasov have been unable to travel to Scotland for our 2 home games.

Originally scheduled to fly on Wednesday from Bucharest, after boarding the aeroplane they were advised after 1 hour & 30 mins wait that the flight had been cancelled. The Flyers in conjunction with Brasov, worked diligently to source alternate flights.

After sourcing new flights and arriving into Istanbul last night, Brasov boarded a flight to Edinburgh this morning, only to be further advised that this alternative flight had also been cancelled.

The Brasov management, staff and players have been attempting to travel to Scotland for the past 48 hours, which also resulted in them having to spend the night in Istanbul Airport.

While it is an extremely frustrating outcome, it has become apparent that Brasov will be unable to travel any further and player welfare is paramount in a situation such as this. We would like to thank everyone at CSM Corona Brasov for working with us and doing everything they could to travel for the games.
