Josh Boni – #71

Fife Flyers are saddened to learn of the passing this weekend of former player Josh Boni.

Josh arrived at the Flyers as a 21 year old at the start of the 1994/95 season following a year in Austria and was hailed by coach Jim Lynch as the key piece in the puzzle to meet Flyers second line scoring needs. Boni was a reclassified import as he also held a British Passport and he got his Flyers career off to the perfect start with a 3+2 performance on his debut against the Paisley Pirates on September 3rd. In his short time in Kirkcaldy he played a total of 20 games scoring 10 goals and adding 23 assist along with 33 Penalty minutes and played his final game against the Whitley Warriors on November 13th before joining the Durham Wasps for the remainder of that season.

He played the following two seasons in the UK with the Milton Keynes Kings and Telford Tigers before playing the rest of his career in the United States.

Flyers GM Max Birbraer said “I am shocked and devastated at the passing of a good friend who played a huge part in my development in the early stages of my career. Josh was my skills coach, training partner and summer league teammate”.

The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Josh’s family and friends at this time.
