Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club can confirm that goalie Brython Preece has been released. Everyone at the Club would like to wish Brython the very best in his future.
With this news, Fife Flyers would also like to welcome Cameron Kenny to the Club. Cameron will be our home grown back-up goalie as we dress a full contingency of non-home grown players.
We can also confirm that Latvian goalie Jānis Voris has signed with club. The 24 year old goalie was Latvia’s award winning World Junior U18/U20 goalie in 2017/18 and 2019/20. He has most recently played in the Erste Liga with DVTK Jegesmedvék.
We are currently awaiting his paperwork at this time.
On his signing with the Club, Voris commented ‘I’m really excited about coming to Fife. It’s my first time visiting the UK, and I’ve been told the town has a strong passion for hockey, which I’m eager to experience. I know the Elite League has been improving a lot, with plenty of talented players. I’m especially excited that the league plays a North American style of hockey—fast and physical. I can’t wait to meet the fans; I’ve heard they’re loud and loyal. And I’m really looking forward to getting to know my teammates and building chemistry, both on and off the ice—that’s what makes the game so fun.’
On the net-minding changes, Coach Tom Coolen commented ‘I felt that we needed to add an experienced player to our goaltending depth in Jānis Voris, while also giving an upcoming young local in Cam Kenny the opportunity to face quality shooters on a daily basis. Both these players support our starter Shane Owen over the long haul.’
