Saskatoon born Tyler played Junior A hockey for two seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with the Melfort Mustangs. The left shot blueliner, who originally played forward, then decided to return to school with the NCAA’s Merrimack College for three seasons spanning the Covid pandemic. The 25-year-old continued his studies when he joined the University of Regina Cougars in the USports for two seasons. In his second year, the 2022/23 season, he lead the team in points playing alongside Brady Pouteau and was named to the Canada West All Star Second Team. He signed his first professional contract to complete that season with the ECHL’s Reading Royals. He was retained by the Royals for last season but his season was ended prematurely through injury playing a total of 37 games and returning 5+9 in his ECHL career.
