19-year-old Fifer James Spence signs up for 2022/23

19-year-old Fifer James Spence has agreed to another season at Fife Flyers for the upcoming 2022/23 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Spence, from Glenrothes, joined the Flyers first team for the first time last season back in December after a stint playing in Poland with Opole HK.

The right winger has also been learning his trade in Canada as he spent three years at the Ontario Hockey Academy before starting his pro career.

He has also made a number of appearances at international youth level with both Scotland and Great Britain.

Commenting on his return, James Spence said:

"I am looking forward to getting back into action! Joining my childhood team halfway through the year and gaining valuable experience was a dream come true.

"I was delighted when Flyers contacted me and asked me back for the upcoming season, it was an opportunity that couldn't be denied.

"I cannot wait to see the fans back in the Auld Barn soon - roll on September!"

Also commenting, Fife Flyers Head Coach and GM Todd Dutiaume said:

"Another young prospect, James returned back to Fife part way through the season last year and I was impressed by the strides he had made in his game.

"Hungry to secure a regular spot in the line-up, Spence has already started his off-ice training that is crucial to realising his goals. I feel this young man has a bright future in a Flyers uniform."
