KIRKCALDY BOY REECE COCHRANE COMES HOME

The UNISON Fife Health Branch Fife Flyers are delighted to welcome back Kirkcaldy local Reece Cochrane for the remainder of the 2021/22 EIHL season.

The 21-year-old will join the club on a two-way deal with Kirkcaldy Kestrels.

Reece returns to Kirkcaldy after a short spell with the Glasgow Clan, making 17 appearances in the Elite League in that time.

Cochrane is a product of the Fife development system, having started his career with the Fife Falcons. He has also competed for Scotland at a every age level.

The Scottish forward also had a spell at NIHL side the Sheffield Steeldogs in the 2019/20 season, where he appeared 42 times, scoring 16 points.

Commenting, Fife Flyers assistant coach Jeff Hutchins said:

"We have worked with Reece a couple of years back and having seen him skate for the Clan earlier this year and with us in the last week, his game has progressed.

"This is a great opportunity for him to come in and play minutes, we have the need with a short bench on the back end and until we get our new defencemen in, we are going to rely on him this weekend.

"He is one for the future for us, he has got the chance to stake a claim for years to come and it is going to be a process for him and we have had conversations with him in the last few days around buying in to that and wanting to establish himself as a regular British defenceman in the Elite League.

"We will continue to work with him and we are excited to have him onboard and hopefully we will have success with him in the line-up."
