Scott Aarssen

Fife Flyers are delighted to confirm the return of 31 year old Canadian defenceman Scott Aarssen for the 2019/20 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Aarsen returns for his 2nd season in Fife, and 7th season in the Elite League having previously spent 4 years with Braehead Clan and 1 season with the Sheffield Steelers.

Last season the St. Catherines native registered 33 points from the blueline, scoring 2 goal and 31 assists across 57 games, taking his EIHL total to 21 goals and 203 assists in 374 games.

Speaking about his return to Fife, Aarsen had the following to say "I am thrilled to be coming back to Fife for another year! It was a privilege to play in front of the Flyers faithful last season and I can't wait to see the Auld Barn rocking again.

"My family and I really enjoyed our time last year, so it was an easy decision to return.

"I am looking forward to working with Dutes and Hutch again, and I can't wait to hit the ice with all the guys. I feel that we have some unfinished business from last season and look forward to doing whatever it takes to help the team win."

Head coach Todd Dutiaume spoke highly of the returning defenceman, saying "The decision to bring Scott and his family back was an incredibly easy one. His on ice contribution was invaluable; quietly anchoring our defence and leading by example every night.

"We'll look to him once again to be that calm steadying influence who will contribute regurlaly on offence and provide strong leadership."
