Jon Rempel

Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, are pleased to announce that they will be joined by head coach of the University of Manitoba national women's team, Jon Rempel, who will be joining the coaching team over the next 3 weeks as guest coach.

Rempel has been in post with the University of Manitoba for the last 13 seasons and last season he won the U Sports Woman's coach of the year. Rempel guided the squad to the 2018 Canada West Championship – just the third in the 21-year history of the program – after claiming top spot in the conference for the first time ever with a 19-5-3-1 regular season record.

Jon is a close personal friend and former team mate of Head Coach Todd Dutiaume.

Jon is no stranger to UK hockey, having played with the Slough Jets during the 1998/99 season, the same year the Flyers won the playoff championship in a thrilling shootout.

As well as icing with Slough Jets, Rempel also spent 3 seasons playing in the ECHL with Baton Rouge Kingfish.

Todd had the following to say about working with his former team mate and adversary: "Jon and I go way back to our junior days and have remained good friends over the years. When we initially discussed the idea of coming over it developed into a reality quite swiftly.

"Jon has developed into an excellent coach with a strong knowledge of the game.

Jeff and I look forward to working with him and showing him our proud and historic organisation."
