The Kingdom Weekend Preview – Week 28

WEEK 28 of the 2025/26 Elite Ice Hockey League season and the Flyers make their final trip south of the border for the season as they visit the Coventry Blaze for the penultimate meeting of the teams this season. Manchester Storm then return to the Auld Barn for consecutive weekends on Sunday night for their final meeting of the season against the Flyers.

We cover a couple of new faces this season in the Blaze forward corps. 28 year old Danish forward William Boysen joined the Blaze from SønderjyskE of the Danish Metal Ligaen, where he spent the past five seasons and was part of the team that captured the Danish Championship in 2023/24. A product of the Rungsted academy, Boysen made his professional debut with Seier Capital, where he played four seasons and won the Danish Cup in 2016/17. He also spent one campaign with the Frederikshavn White Hawks, taking his total to 416 games in the Metal Ligaen, during which he registered 211 points (84 goals, 127 assists). An experienced playoff performer, Boysen has featured in 74 post-season games, tallying 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists). He has also competed in four editions of both the Continental Cup and Champions Hockey League. Internationally, Boysen has represented Denmark at every major junior level and made his senior debut for the national team during the 2019/20 season. American forward Adam Robbins joineds the Blaze from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, where he appeared in four games, recording one assist. He joined Cincinnati after completing his rookie professional season with the Tahoe Knight Monsters, tallying nine goals and four assists for 13 points in 51 ECHL games. Before turning professional, 25 year old Robbins spent five years at Princeton University, where he was a four-time member of the ECAC All-Academic Team. In his senior season (2023/24), he led the Tigers in goals (11), assists (18), and scoring (29 points), earning a nomination for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award. He also served as an assistant captain in his final year with the program. Across 111 NCAA games, the Alpine, New Jersey native amassed 58 points (21 goals, 37 assists). Prior to college, Robbins won the 2021 Clark Cup with the Chicago Steel of the USHL.

The Flyers have lost on their last 6 visits to the Skydome. During that sequence the Blaze have outscored the Flyers 37-13.

We take a look at a couple of forwards to are completing their first season with the Storm. 26-year-old Canadian Brandon Cutler arrived from EC Kassel Huskies (DEL2), as the talented winger looks to extend his stay on the European circuit. In 40 DEL2 appearances, Cutler recorded 25 points (11G, 14A) in his debut season outside North America. Before his move to Europe, Cutler enjoyed a highly productive spell with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL), where he amassed 122 points (61G, 61A) in just 127 games. His scoring prowess naturally led to multiple AHL call-ups, including stints with the Abbotsford Canucks, Belleville Senators, Hartford Wolf Pack, and Colorado Eagles. A product of the Western Hockey League (WHL), Cutler spent five seasons between the Victoria Royals and Red Deer Rebels, clocking up over 250 appearances and earning a reputation as a hard-working, dependable forward. Canadian forward Joseph Nardi joined the Storm from the Reading Royals (ECHL). Aged 28 and hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Nardi brings a wealth of experience to the Storm line-up. Standing at 5’10” and shooting left, he impressed during the 2023–24 season with the Reading Royals, finishing as the team’s leading point-scorer with 50 points (17G, 33A). Before turning professional, Joe enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Northern Michigan University, where he featured in 170 NCAA games, recording 41 goals and 72 assists. He wore the captain’s “C” during the 2020–21 campaign and was named to the WCHA Second All-Star Team. Earlier in his career, Nardi captained the Whitecourt Wolverines in the AJHL, leading them to the 2017 finals while registering six goals and fifteen assists during the play-offs. He also represented Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge, winning gold in 2015 and serving as an alternate captain in 2016. Nardi’s most recent season was split between Europe and North America. He began the 2024-25 campaign in the ICE Hockey League with Pioneers Vorarlberg, where he played 26 games alongside future Storm teammate Brady Gilmour, before making a brief move to Slovakia. In February, he returned to familiar territory, rejoining the Reading Royals for a further 27 appearances.

Number Crunching

The Flyers are looking to avoid a 3rd consecutive defeat at home against the Storm which would equal their best ever sequence in Kirkcaldy in all EIHL competitions.

The Flyers top scorer against the Storm this term is Keaton Jameson with 3 goals in and they have had 10 different scorers in the 5 games so far.

Brady Gilmour has top scored for the Storm in the fixture with 6 goals and they have 12 different scorers.

The Flyers have killed 14 of 19 Storm powerplays this season which is 73.68 percent and is the second lowest kill against all teams.

The Flyers powerplay against the Storm is 3 for 12 which is 25 percent and that is joint best along with the Panthers against all teams.

Manchester Storms Nick Welsh holds the highest time on ice for a single game this season across all games played with his 38 minutes against the Flyers on January 4th.
