The Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are excited to announce the signing of defenceman Jeremy Masella for the 2025/26 season.
Following 4 seasons playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL), which included a championship winning season, Jeremy spent a brief stint with Carleton University. Turning pro during the 2021/22 season with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL.
Over the next few seasons, Jeremy iced in 129 ECHL games with the Kalamazoo Wings, Savannah Ghost Pirates and Wichita Thunder totalling 17 points (9 goals + 8 assists).
During the 2022/23 Jeremy also iced in 8 games in the SPHL with the Evansville Thunderbolts. In those 8 games he recorded 6 points (3 goals + 3 assists).
Jeremy has suited up alongside a number of former Flyers throughout his career but most notably iced alongside new Flyer, Garet Hunt, last season when they both iced with DVTK Jegesmedvék in the Erste Liga/Hungary. During the 2024/25 season Jeremy iced in 45 games with DVTK Jegesmedvék registering 16 points (5 goals +11 assists).
On signing Jeremy, Head Coach Jamie Russell said “Jeremy is a big man that makes playing in our end a difficult task.
“He has good mobility and makes a great first pass.
“He is a hard worker and a terrific team mate!”
Flyers President and GM Max Birbraer added “We welcome Jeremy on board and are very pleased we could make it happen.
“Simply put, Jeremy fits the picture we all agreed to put together from the start.
“Jeremy is a big, mobile, hard nosed, hard to play against defender who can pitch in with some offence.
“I’m really pleased he has decided to join us for the upcoming season.”
On signing with the Flyers Jeremy said ”I can’t wait to get to Scotland, meet the boys and get the season going”
Jeremy is the 19th member of the squad to sign in the Kingdom for the 2025/26 season and will wear #26.
