Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce the addition of Canadian Netminder Christian Purboo for the 2025/26 season.
Christian joins the Flyers after combining his studies while playing at Queens University (OUA, USports).
Season 2023/24 saw Christian post save percentages of 93.4 in regular season games and 90.3 in post season games.
He followed that up with a stand out season which saw him named 2024/25 USports (OUA East) Goaltender of the year and voted onto the First All-star team. Christian was also a regular recipient of OUA Athlete of the Week with a regular season save percentage of 92.7 and a post season save percentage of 94.
Prior to University, Christian spent 3 seasons icing in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) splitting his time between the North Bay Battalion and the Sudbury Wolves.
On the addition of Christian, Coach Russell said “Christian is a classic late bloomer. He has really put it all together over the last two seasons.
“He’s going into a great situation to have the opportunity to be mentored by such a great veteran in Shane Owen.
“Christian has outstanding size, athleticism and tracks the puck very well”.
On signing with the Flyers Christian said “I’m excited to be joining the Fife Flyers and can’t wait to get started.
“From everything I’ve heard, the fans are passionate and the community really gets behind the team — that’s something I want to be a part of.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my game to the EIHL and helping this group compete every night.”
Fife Flyers President and GM Max Birbraer added “I’m delighted to have Christian on board. We have been speaking to him for a while and glad he decided to go with us.
“Christian is a highly regarded young talent who will be given an opportunity to play significant minutes.
“This will also allow Shane Owen to have an appropriate rest when needed, making this goalkeeping tandem even more effective.”
As the team continues to take shape, Christian is the 10th player to join us in the Kingdom. Christian will wear #37 for the 2025/26 season.
