FIFE FLYERS CONFIRM ON-ICE LEADERSHIP TEAM FOR 2021/22

MATT CARTER TAKES A C WHILST EMMERDAHL, ISAACS AND PEACKOCK WILL WEAR As

The UNISON Fife Health Branch Fife Flyers are delighted to announce the on-ice leadership team for the 2021/22 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Canadian forward Matt Carter will be the club captain, joining a long list of illustrious names who have worn the C for Fife Flyers over the years.

So far this season Carter has racked up 9 points in 9 games for Fife Flyers and scored the club’s 1,500 th EIHL goal.

Carter will be joined on the leadership team by Jonas Emmerdahl, James Isaacs and Craig Peacock serving as assistant captains.

Commenting, Fife Flyers head coach Todd Dutiaume said:

“Matt Carter brings all the leadership skills and experience into the dressing room that we are looking for. He is clearly a natural pick for us, he is someone who commands respect on and off the ice.

“He is also a guy who has a wealth of experience in this league and can help guide our young pros as they develop and provide the leadership required.

“Jonas leads by example night in night out. He leaves everything out on the ice and consistently shows up every night to play at the top level and has wonderful leadership qualities.

“James Isaacs has been with the club for a considerable period of time and we have seen him develop over time. He is very vocal off ice, as well as giving his all on ice he is instrumental in leading these guys off the ice and organising events to make the  team bond and gel.

“And Peaks has been an absolute delight to work with and is another guy who brings a wealth of experience. We have seen younger guys, import and non-import, go to him for guidance and assistance, he is a steadying influence on the ice and another guy who can  develop strong relationships with the team.

Also commenting on becoming Fife Flyers captain, Matt Carter said:

“I am honoured to be named captain of a club with such rich history. It is a privilege to be chosen as there are a lot of leaders on our team.

“I am very grateful and looking forward to the rest of the season.”
