CONTINENTAL CUP WINNER MATT CARTER JOINS FIFE FLYERS FOR 2021/22

The UNISON Fife Health Branch Fife Flyers have announced the capture of Canadian left-winger Matt Carter for the 2021/22 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Carter joins the Flyers having enjoyed success already in the Elite League. In 2016/17 he was part of the Nottingham Panthers side who won European silverware when they lifted the Continental Cup.

The 34-year-old also iced for the Dundee Stars in the 2019/20 season before play was curtailed by the pandemic.

In his EIHL career, Carter has notched up 72 appearances and chalked up 48 points.

Carter has a wealth of experience across Europe too having iced in France for Ligue Magnus sides Gap, Epinal and Angers. He has also played in Austria and Poland.

Commenting on the signing, Fife Flyers head coach Todd Dutiaume said:

“We have an extremely young team for this season that is extremely hungry and bringing in a guy like Matt is going to bring some veteran leadership and experience.

“He will bring some size up the middle of the ice and he is a guy who has put up a good PPG in some of the places he has played so we will be counting on him to be a leader for our guys in the dressing room.”
