Match Report – Friday 19th December 2025

The Flyers and Clan met in the first of their back to back meetings with both rosters missing notable players. The Flyers did however welcome back Justin Ducharme into the lineup for his first game since 14th September but the visitors were without both David Booth and Milan Lucic who both arrived into the country this week but were still awaiting the their visa applications to be finalised as well as Jeremy Masella who remained in the injured list. The Clan also had the debut of Daniel Tedesco put on hold as a result of awaiting the visa process to complete with Chris McKay, Colton Poolman, Felix Pare and Hugo Roy all out injured.

It was Ethan Somoza who had the first shot on goal of the game that Sami Aittokallio knocked away. In the 3rd minute Garet Hunt tried a wraparound but the Clan keeper was alert to make the block. Shane Owen then had to be alert as he blockered away a Miihkali Teppo shot from distance. The Clan opened the scoring at 3:24 when Steven Seigo put the puck on net from the blueline sand Deven Sideroff skated through the slot to get a tip on it to send the puck into the top corner of the net. On the resumption a pane of plexi glass fell out and the game was held up for 5 minutes as the teams returned to the dressingroom for the repairs to be made. In the 5th minute Owen shut down Rylan Schwartz who fired on net from the slot. A minute later a Ryan Nicholson slap pass found Hunt at the back door but he knocked the puck wide of the net. In the 9th minute a right pad save by Owen denied Schwartz with the snapshot from below the circles. A minute later and Brady Risk took the puck to the net but Owen stood tall. A Jason Fram blast from the point in the 12th minute was gloved by Owen before Richard Jarusek broke up a play in the Clan zone and transitioned into the Flyers end of the ice but his shot from the circles was turned away by Owen. Ducharme had a rush in the 15th minute as he went to the net but Aittokallio made a couple of saves as the returning winger couldn’t get the puck to go. In the 16th minute Andrew McLean tested the Clan goalie twice with shots from the point. Moments later however the Clan had their second when Seigo took the puck for a skate in the Flyers zone and his flubbed shot landed in front of Austin Mitchell-King who scooped the puck into the net over the attempted poke check by Owen. Another tip from Sideroff caught Owens shoulder in the 17th minute. In the final minute Ian Scheid saw his shot gloved by Aittokallio with Keaton Jameson in his crease.

The Flyers had a scare in the opening minute of the second period as Seigo went to the net but he couldn’t get a good connection on the puck. The Clan went on the games first powerplay in 22nd minute as the Flyers were called for too many men. A Seigo one timer was blocked in front of the net by Jonas Emmerdahl and Fram drifted a shot just wide of the post as the Flyers completed the kill only to be shorthanded again seconds later as McLean was binned for a trip in the corner. The Clan made the visitors pay on the man advantage as Fram went to the net and Owen made an initial save only for the puck to fall onto the stick of Tristin Langan who swept it home. On the play the Flyers were penalised again when Hunt got the gate for a cross check to send the Clan straight back onto the powerplay. The Flyers almost got a goal back with a couple of short handed chances as Giordano Finoro broke down the right wing and found Johan Porsberger who was stopped by Aittokallio who then made a follow up save with his blocker to deny Finoro. Josh Winquist also tested the Clan keeper before the Flyers returned to full strength. In the 28th minute Emmerdahl fired a shot off the Clan crossbar. The Flyers turned the puck over in their zone and Owen had to make another save on Schwartz in the 29th minute who was all alone on the esdge of the crease. A face off win by Jameson in the 31st set up a one timer by Hunt that Aittokallio swallowed before the Flyers went on the powerplay as Joe Hazeldine tripped Jameson. The Flyers pulled a  goal back as Porsberger won the puck along the boards to find Anton Karlsson who centred it for Somoza to redirect up into the roof of the net at 31:35. In the 34th minute Jarusek drove the net and fell over top of Owen which drew a goalie interference penalty. On the Flyers powerplay Aittokallio made a pad save on Ducharme and Hunt was also denied but the Flyers reduced the gap to a goal after Logan Neilson saw his first oner timer fought off by the Clan goalie but the Flyers recycled the puck and this time Neilson went top shelf with the finish at 35:44. In the 37th minute Owen made a pair of saves on Kielb and then Sideroff and Hunt again saw a shot saved by Aittokallio in the 39th minute. In the final seconds Somoza went close and on the follow up Winquist hit the outside of the post.

The Flyers were back on terms early in the third period as Hunt from the high slot had his shot saved by Aittokallio but Jameson pounced on the rebound to finish through the five hole at 41:47. In the 43rd minute a turnover by the Clan offered  a chance for Karlsson but he was denied by a blocker save and the Clan went the other way with Risk being denied by a shoulder save by Owen. The Clan retook the lead at 45:09 when Seigo put the puck on net from the blueline and through a ruck off players it took a nick off a Flyers player to beat Owen. Owen then made a big stick save on an effort by Risk and moments later the Flyers were back on the penalty kill as Ducharme went to the bin for hooking. The Flyers again almost scored short handed as Owen made a clearance to Finoro who went down the left wing and his shot crashed off the crossbar. Owen hung onto a Langan shot as the Flyers completed the kill. Aittokallio made a near post save on a one time shot by Neilson in the 51st minute and in the 54th minute a breakout by Finoro saw him feed the puck to Somoza in the slot but again the Clan keeper was well positioned. With 3:34 remaining in the game the Flyers called a time out and Owen was pulled for the extra skater. An Ian Scheid shot brought a pad save from Aittokallio and a Sideroff effort on the empty cage just skittered past after McLean got a stick on the puck. Neilson saw  a shot go off the mask of the Clan goalie and with 2:20 to go Owen was back in net but he was pulled again with 1:10 to go and this time with the extra skater the Flyers levelled the game. Jameson won a face off to Scheid who found Winquist and he picked the top corner over the blocker of Aittokallio.  Owen forced over time as he blockered away a shot in the final seconds.

The Clan got the game winner 36 seconds into the extra frame as Seigo released Brett Neumann down the right wing and his shot found a hole to beat Owen.
