Fife Flyers 5 Coventry Blaze 3 – Elite League
The Flyers snapped their longest winless streak against the Blaze at 8 games and also avoided being winless in 5 games at home against the Blaze which would have been the Midlands best sequence at Fife Ice Arena in all EIHL competitions.
Ian Scheid’s empty net goal was the Flyers 55th in all EIHL competitions with 36 different scorers and it was their 5th against Blaze.
Ian Scheid had a four point game which is the most points in a game for a Flyers player this season and the most since Phelix Martineau had 1+3 against the Giants on 16th November 2024.
There are now for Flyers players who have had multi goal games this season – Josh Winquist (x2), Johan Porsberger (x2) , Keaton Jameson and Ian Scheid.
Anton Karlsson had 3 assists which is the joint team highest along with Ethan Somoza and Josh Winquist in a game this season.
The Flyers have now gone three consecutive games with a powerplay goal which is a season high. ?
Giordano Finoro now has goals in three consecutive games against the Blaze and the 2nd Flyers player in all EIHL competitions to do so.
The Flyers remain perfect when leading after 2 periods at home and are now 3 for 3.
The three goals in the third period is the Flyers highest total in 20 minutes play this season.
On Sunday night……
Nottingham Panthers 4 Fife Flyers 1 – Elite League
This was the Panthers 11th consecutive win against the Flyers.
The Flyers gave up 57 shots which is a season high for them.
The highest shot total for any team this term is 62 that the Giants put on the Stars net on 9th November.
The 25 Panthers shots in the 3rd period is also a season high given up by the Flyers in 20 minutes this season.
Both the 3rd period total and game total shots are season highs for the Panthers with Matt Alfaro’s 9 shots also a new team high.
The Flyers made it 4 games in a row with a powerplay goal which is their best sequence on the season.
This was the Flyers 300th loss in all competitions in the EIHL on the road in 422 games total.
