Neilson Joins the Flyers

The Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are pleased to announce the signing of Great Britain international, Logan Neilson.

Starting the season with Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) rivals, Sheffield Steelers, Logan iced in 18 games with the Yorkshire side before heading north to the Kingdom.

A product of the Nottingham Panthers junior development, Logan headed across the pond during the 2017/18 season to further his development. Here Logan mainly played for the West Coast Renegades averaging over a point per game.

From there, Logan completed his junior hockey between Corpus Christi IceRays in the North American Hockey League and Olds Grizzlys in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The 2023/24 season saw Logan return to Nottingham, joining the Panthers for his first pro season where he picked up the EIHL Young British Player of the Year. Returning to the Panthers for the 2024/25 season, Logan was part of the Playoff Championship winning side. Overall, Logan has iced in 135 EIHL games returning 32 points (14 goals + 18 assists) in all competitions.

As well as icing in the EIHL, Logan has also represented Team GB at both Senior and Under 20 level. In the 2021/22 season, Logan had a successful campaign ending the Division 2A tournament as top points and top goal scorer helping the team secure the bronze medal. He was also part of the Division 1A Senior Men’s team that secured the gold medal and promotion earlier this year.

On signing Logan, Flyers President and GM Max Birbraer said “As we continue to adjust our roster, an opportunity to add a top British young talent came our way and we are extremely excited to welcome Logan to Fife.

As part of the deal with Sheffield Steelers, the club have traded Elite League rights of Joe Lynch. Joe has been tremendous for us when he is available to play and we thank him massively for that. The position we are in right now, we did have to make a tough choice and make a move for a full time player.

Logan comes from a hockey family with proven rich hockey DNA. Offensive upside to his game is something we are desperately in need but coach Russell is excited to work with young lad on all areas of his game and develop a complete solid player for years to come.”

Head Coach Jamie Russell commented “We are excited to welcome Logan to the Flyers. He is a big man that brings offensive ability and a good shot. It’s a great opportunity for him and a very good fit for us.”

On signing in Fife, Logan added “I like to think I bring good energy to the team.  On the ice wise, I hope my shot and my offensive abilities can be displayed and I’m looking forward to it.

“I played in Fife once this season and it was super loud to play in and a great atmosphere. I always enjoyed going there and it was where I scored my first ever goal.

“It brings back good memories for me, especially with my mum and grandparents all living and growing up near that area, it will be cool to spend some time with them.

“I can’t wait to get started.  The staff at Fife have been very welcoming and I’m excited to make the most of the opportunity they’ve given me.”

For the 2025/26 season Logan will wear #61
