Finoro Bolsters Kingdom Attack

The Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce the addition of forward Giordano Finoro.

Described as a two-way centre and energy forward, Giordano arrives in the Kingdom from IF Troja-Ljungby in the Swedish second tier to bolster the Kingdom’s attack.

Following a junior career that saw Giordano cross paths with a few former Flyers, he joined the University of Guelph where he picked up the USports (OUA) Championship during a successful first season in which he returned 31 points (16 goals + 15 assists) in 35 games.

From there Giordano headed to Italy icing with Asiago firstly in the Alps Hockey League and then in the Austrian top tier, ICE Hockey League (ICEHL).

During his time with Asiago, Giordano recorded 114 points (59 goals + 55 assists) across 131 games in all competitions.

9 of these games included the 2022/23 Continental Cup where Asiago would meet Elite Ice Hockey League rivals Cardiff Devils in the final group stage.

Coincidently Giordano would score the only Asiago goal during the meeting of the two sides. Despite not tasting success in this competition, Giordano is no stranger to silverware having picked up the AlpsHL Championship, Italy Championship and the Italian Supercup Championship, all with Asiago.

During his time in Italy, Giordano also spent a season with HC Bolzano in the ICEHL as well as icing with Team Italy on the international stage.

On securing Giordano, Fife Flyers President and GM, Max Birbraer said: “We are really pleased to be able to bring in a player of Gio’s caliber.
“Apart from deepening our line up, this addition will also help us in areas in need such as the face-off circle and goalscoring.
“I’m super excited to see Gio in action.”

On the signing of Giordano, Head Coach Jamie Russell commented: “Gio is a strong skater that is comfortable playing centre or on the wing.
“He is a proven offensive producer that is also responsible in all three zones.”

On making the move to the Kingdom Giordano added: “I’m extremely excited to hit the ice with the team and beyond honoured to put on the Flyers jersey that comes with such a rich hockey history.
“I look forward to seeing everyone soon.”

This season, Giordano will wear #22 for the Flyers.
