The Kingdom Weekend Recap – Week 5

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 2       Guildford Flames 7                  –  Elite League    

The Flames made it 7 wins on the bounce against the Flyers which equals their best run against Fife in all EIHL competitions.

They also made it 4 straight wins in Kirkcaldy which is their best ever sequence on Flyers ice in the EIHL era.

Jamal Watson became the first Flames player to score a hat trick against the Flyers in the EIHL era – the Flames were the only team not to have a player achieve this to date against the Flyers.

The Flyers conceded their 9th penalty shot goal in all EIHL competitions – the last being Philippe Sanche on 15th October 2022 – since then the opposition have missed two with 15 in total being awarded against the Flyers. The Flames are now 1 and 1 on penalty shots against the Flyers.

The 40 shots for Flyers was their highest in a game this season and the Flames 27 was the fewest given up so far this season.

Vlastimil Dostalek had 9 shots in the game which is team leading season high.

The opening goal by Johan Porsberger was the fastest goal the Flyers have scored this season.

The Flyers now have a powerplay goal in back to back games which is a season best so far although they have now conceded a powerplay goal in their last three games which is also a season high.

Keaton Jameson had his team leading points and goals streak ended at 5 and 4 games respectively.

 

On Sunday night……

Belfast Giants 6           Fife Flyers  0            –   Challenge Cup    

The Giants have now won their last 5 games at home to the Flyers.

It was the 15th time in all EIHL competitions that the Giants have blanked the Flyers.

The Giants have blanked the Fifers in successive visits one before during the 2017/18 season – they join the Sheffield Steelers as the other team to do this against the Flyers.

The Cardiff Devils, Coventry Blaze and Manchester Storm have also achieved this feat once each against the Flyers.

The Flyers have now conceded power play goals in their last 4 games which is a season high streak.
