Fife Flyers 4 Belfast Giants 3 Shootout – Challenge Cup
Congratulations to Christian Purboo on his first win as a Flyers player and his first W in professional hockey.
The last 4 Flyers wins against the Giants have all been beyond regulation time. Their last regulation win against the Giants was November 2019.
It is the first time this season that the Flyers have won when losing the first goal.
It is also the Flyers first win this season when being behind after 2 periods of play.
The Flyers are a perfect 3 for 3 when winning the third period this season.
It was the Flyers 34th shootout win in the EIHL era with an equal split at home and on the road.
The Flyers have won in their last 2 shootouts.
Against the Giants the Flyers are now 3 and 3 in shootouts in all EIHL competitions.
It is exactly a year since the Flyers won back to back home games.
Including shootout goals the Flyers 4th goal was their 1300th on home ice in all EIHL competitions.

Manchester Storm 6 Fife Flyers 1 – League
Congratulations to Garet Hunt on his first goal in Flyers colours. NOTE – upon review the goal has now been credited to Keaton Jameson
Keegan Cairns made his Flyers debut, the 19th debutant so far this season and the 203rd player all time in the EIHL era.
Keaton Jameson made it 5 games in a row with a point which is the longest points streak on the season.
Johan Porsberger and Keaton Jameson had their team leading goal scoring streaks ended at 3 games. NOTE – as a result of the reviewed goal in Manchester Keaton now has goals in his last 4 games which is a team high this season.
The Flyers are now 5 and 9 in their opening league games during the EIHL era. They have a 2 and 4 record on the road and are 0 and 3 against the Storm in opening encounters.
This equalled the Flyers biggest margin of defeat against the Storm which was previously a 5-0 loss on October 2021.
