The Kingdom Midweek Recap – Week 2

On Tuesday night……

Dundee Stars   0           Fife Flyers  4            –  Challenge Cup

The Flyers ended their longest winless streak against the Dundee Stars in EIHL play which stood at 8 games in all competitions.

The Flyers last win against the Tayside team which was also in the Challenge Cup came almost a year ago on 28th September 2024.

There were a number of players who picked up their first points for the Flyers, congratulations to Ryan Nicholson and Ethan Somoza on their first goals and to Andrew McLean, Didrik Svendsen, Mason Alderson, Keaton Jameson as well as Ethan Somoza on their first assists.

Congratulations also to Shane Owen on recording his 14th shut out all time for the Flyers in competitive matches.

His previous clean sheet came against the Guildford Flames at Fife Ice Arena on 21st October 2023.

10 of his shutouts have come on home ice and it’s his 4th against the Dundee Stars which is most of all teams.

It’s the 9th time the Flyers have shutout the Stars in the EIHL era, which is the most against any other opponent, with 6 at home and 3 on the road.

The Flyers remain perfect on the Penalty Kill going 12 for 12 in their first three games – if you include the last game of last season where they killed the games final penalty 13 this is the best since a 7 game stretch in Dec/Jan in the 2022/23 season where they killed 18 consecutive penalties.
