The Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are excited to announce 4 additions to our roster on two-way agreements.
We’re pleased to announced that Cole Giannandrea and Kian Shevlin will join our roster via our player pathway partnership with Scottish National League (SNL) side Kirkcaldy Kestrels.
Whilst Ben Keddie and Cameron Wilkie will also join us on two-way deals from SNL side Edinburgh Capitals.
All four skaters will be no strangers to hockey fans in the Kingdom, as they have all iced at numerous levels for Kirkcaldy Ice Hockey Club (KIHC).
16 year old defenceman Cole is starting his second season with the Kestrels. A player who has regularly played in older age groups throughout his junior career, Cole has represented Scotland and GB at international level.
A successful 2024/25 season saw Cole help the Kestrels reach the Scottish Cup final and Scottish National League play-off final. He also won the league and cup double at U16 and U19 level, icing with both the Fife Flames and the Fife Falcons.
19 year old defenceman Kian iced last season with the Solway Sharks in the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL1) which also saw him on two-way deals with the Kestrels and Glasgow Clan.
Prior to the 2024/25 season Kian has also iced with SNL side Edinburgh Capitals, Dundee Stars U16 and U19, Solway Sharks U19 and has spent a season of development stateside.
20 year old netminder Ben is gearing up for his first season with Edinburgh Capitals of the SNL after a season backstopping in the NIHL1 with Blackburn Hawks, which saw him end the regular season with a saves percentage of 90.3.
Last year was Ben’s third season with the Hawks having previously been on a two-way between them and the Kestrels. During this time, Ben had opportunities to train with the Flyers and went on to feature as back up on a few occasions.
During the 2023/24 season, Ben won both the NIHL1 North Cup and the NIHL North Playoff Championship with the Hawks. He has also lifted the SNL League Trophy as a Kirkcaldy Kestrel.
19 year old defenceman Cameron is entering his second season as an Edinburgh Capital. As well as icing with the Capitals, Cameron has iced with various age groups in KIHC, Dundee Stars U19 and Blackburn Hawks in the NIHL.
Described as an impressive and speedy skater, Cameron has represented both Scotland and GB.
On signing the quartet on two-way deals, Flyers President and GM Max Birbraer said “As part of our commitment to ensure that we have local talent in our line up for seasons to come, we are pleased to announce these additions to our two-way group.”
“Cole Giannandrea is a young, talented defencman that has a hockey IQ beyond his years. The feedback from his kestrel and KIHC coaches has consistently been positive.”
“Kian Shevlin is a physical defenceman with a strong offensive upside. Having spent some time in Glasgow and Solway’s NIHL side, he has shown that he has the fundamentals to be a future player in this league.”
“Ben Keddie has seen action in the SNL and NIHL1 with good numbers. We will look to develop him and bring his game on alongside Kenny as guys that can be key to the future of our goal keeping group.”
“Cameron Wilkie has come through the KIHC in his younger years. He will be given the opportunity to practice and develop and adds some depth to our group.”
As the new season fast approaches, we look forward to welcoming our latest roster additions to the Kingdom.
