The Fife Flyers are pleased to announce several appointments to the club’s off-ice support team ahead of the upcoming season, reinforcing the club’s commitment to performance, preparation and development.
Re-joining the team as Head Equipment Manager is Charles Humphreys, who originally joined the Flyers from the NIHL’s Deeside Dragons back in the summer of 2023.
Supporting him will be Sam Harrison and Jamie Laing, who take up on the roles of Assistant Equipment Manager & Equipment Support respectively, providing vital support throughout the season to Charles.
In addition, the Flyers welcome Michael Courts as the club’s new Video Coach & Statistical Analyst. Courts, will assist Head Coach Jamie Russell in evaluating opposition teams and players through video and data analytics.

Courts will also take on an apprenticeship-based Assistant Coach role, providing him the opportunity to develop his coaching skills under the guidance of Head Coach, Jamie Russell. This dual role reflects the Flyers’ commitment to fostering Fife talent both on and off the ice.
Flyers President & General Manager, Max Birbraer commented: “We’re excited to welcome Charles, Sam, Jamie and Michael into their respective roles. Their passion, work ethic and drive to support the team will be a valuable asset throughout the season.
“Michael introduced himself to me by providing value backed statistical facts. He is what I would describe as a Swiss Knife type of guy that will provide assistance in many areas of the club including junior pathway.”
The Fife Flyers would like to officially welcome Charles, Sam and Jamie back into their roles, while welcoming Michael to the club for the first time. We wish them every success in their new roles.
