MASON ALDERSON JOINS FIFE FLYERS

Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce the signing of 23-year-old British forward Mason Alderson.

London-born Alderson comes to the Kingdom following a two year, two-way stint between National Ice Hockey League side Solway Sharks and current Elite Ice Hockey League Champions, the Belfast Giants.

Whilst icing during the 2024/25 season with the Sharks, Mason registered more than a point per game logging 21 goals and 28 assists in 43 appearances for the Dumfriesshire side.

Following a junior career split between Romford, Guildford and Chelmsford, Mason made the move stateside joining the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC) side Islanders Hockey Club ahead of the 2018/19 season.

From there Mason also went on to represent Berwick Academy, Hoosac School, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, and Castleton University before making the switch back to this side of the pond for the 2023/24 season.

Mason has also represented Great Britain at U18 and U20 level registering 28 points in 20 appearances. In 2018 Mason was part of the U18 Championship Division II Group A winning side during the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World tournament in Estonia, where he led the team in scoring with 9 points (6 goals and 3 assists) across 5 games. This saw him voted the tournament’s best forward and in turn was named captain for Great Britain at the 2019 IIHF World U18 Championship Division I Group B tournament in Hungary.

On signing Mason, Flyers President/GM Max Birbraer commented: “When we heard Mason was still available we made an immediate move. It’s absolutely vital for us to start building a core of British players and re-establishing ourselves as a balanced group. Mason is a young, talented, hard nosed player who is an absolute pain in the opposition’s back side. He fits our team template perfectly.

On signing with the Flyers Mason added: “I’m very excited to be joining the Fife Flyers. From what I’ve heard, it’s a great organisation with a passionate fan base and a rich hockey history. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and coaches. I just can’t wait to get started and play in front of the Flyers faithful.”

Mason is the Flyers 2nd signing and joins Shane Owen in the line-up for 2025/26. Mason will wear #9.
