The two teams said farewell to 2024 in their last encounter on Hogmanay. Following that win for Glasgow the Clan opened up 2025 on the Friday night in Manchester where they were defeated 4-1. They remained on the road the next night when they travelled to Nottingham and narrowly lost 2-1 to the Panthers. The following Friday the Cardiff Devils were visitors to Braehead arena and the Clan’s long unbeaten home run of 7 games was ended in an exciting odd goal in nine thriller in favour of the visitors. The Guildford Flames were next in the following night and in another nailbiter the Clan this time got the decision with a 5-4 win after overtime. It was a single game for the Clan last weekend when they hosted the Sheffield Steelers on Friday night with the defending Champions making it 8 consecutive wins, which so far is the longest winning streak of any team this season, when they posted a 3-1 scoreline. Ahead of meeting the Flyers the Clan were in midweek action in the play in round of the Challenge Cup when they travelled to Nottingham on Wednesday night and were eliminated 5-1 by the Panthers.

The following Saturday it was another half dozen for the Devils as they shut out the Storm in Manchester before next night defeating the visiting Guildford Flames 4-1. The Devils then hit a three game skid where they picked up two points in home losses beyond regulation against the Giants and Storm and also lost in Nottingham. A 5-2 win in Dundee was followed by a thumping 5-1 win at the Vindico Arena against the Sheffield Steelers before Christmas. On Boxing Day the Devils went downed 5-2 in Coventry before ending the year with a pair of home wins, 3-2 against Blaze and 5-1 against the Flames. Guildford exacted revenge on New Years Day with a 5-3 win in Surrey and then at the weekend the Devils were stunned as Dundee Stars left with both points in a 4-2 win in Cardiff Bay. At home again the following night the Panthers were downed 3-2 before Cardiff eked out a couple of one goal wins in Glasgow and Manchester. Last weekend the Devils were in Continental Cup action and became the second UK side to win the competition when they topped the table on home ice.
