Weekend Recap – Week 18

On Monday night……

Fife Flyers 3   Glasgow Clan 8    –  Elite League   

The Clan have now won on their last three visits to Fife Ice Arena, this equals their best run on Flyers ice since renaming as Glasgow in 2018/19. Their best ever in all EIHL seasons is 4 consecutive wins.

The 5th goal for Clan was their 400th against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.

It was the first time in 8 games that the Flyers scored in the 3rd period.

On Tuesday night……

Glasgow Clan 5    Fife Flyers 1     –  Elite League   

The Clan made it 8 straight wins at home which is their best sequence of results at Braehead Arena in 9 years. 10 is their all-time best.

It was the Clan’s 6th consecutive win against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions which equals their best since renaming as Glasgow in 2018/19. Their best ever in all EIHL seasons is 8 consecutive wins.

The Flyers 3 shots in the second period equalled their lowest for a period this season.

Flyers 14 shot total for the game equals their lowest total so far this season.

14 is also the lowest number of shots Flyers have had against Clan all time in all EIHL competitions, 15 being the previous low in March 2012.

This was the Flyers 10th Hogmanay road game in the EIHL era – their record now reads W 6 L 4 F 31 A 33

Their overall record in the EIHL on Hogmanay reads P12 W 7 L 5 F 40 A 44

Lucas Chiodo broke a mini drought with a point, it was the first time he had gone 3 games without a point – Lucas still has best points streak on season for team at 6 games.

On Saturday night……

Fife Flyers 1        Coventry Blaze 3     –  Elite League   

The Blaze made it three consecutive wins against the Flyers which is their best run in the post pandemic seasons.

Blaze had 23 shots on goal which is the lowest total given up by the Flyers so far this season – This was the lowest shots against total in a game for Flyers since they faced 20 against Glasgow Clan in March 2023.

The 6 shots for Blaze in the third period equals the fewest given up by Fife in a period this season.

11 shots Kieran Craig equalled single most shots for a Flyers player in a game this season with 11 – he ties Daniel Krenželok who had that number against the Guildford Flame in October.

Congratulations to Charles-Antoine Paiement on his debut, he was the 26th debutant this season for the Flyers who have now iced 32 players.

Congratulations to Janis Voris who scored his first point for the Flyers – the 3rd goalie assist of the season and 5th goalie in the EIHL era to register a point for Flyers from the 16 who have ice time in at least one game.

Lucas Chiodo became the third Flyers player to register 100 shots on the season so far.

On Sunday night……

Guildford Flames 7          Fife Flyers 1     –  Elite League   

Congratulations to Lucas Chiodo who made his 100th competitive appearance in all EIHL competitions for the Flyers.

Congratulations to Charles-Antoine Paiement who scored his first goal for the Flyers.

Excluding shootouts the Flyers scored their 100th goal against the Flames in all EIHL competitions.

This was Flames biggest ever win against the Flyers in all EIHL competitions.

It was the 3rd consecutive game without the Flyers conceding a power play goal which is their best streak of the season.

It was the Flyers 2nd Penalty Shot award this season with both being missed. In all EIHL competitions the Flyers have now been awarded 17 Penalty Shots and have scored 7 times (41.2 percent success)

The Flames remain the only team who are perfect on the penalty kill against the Flyers this season. The Flyers are 0 for 13 on their power play opportunities.
