Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club can confirm that Captain Jonas Emmerdahl will not return for the 24/25 season.
Jonas arrived at the Auld Barn at the start of the 19/20 season and for the Stockholm born blueliner it was the first time that he had played outside of his native Sweden after playing close to 400 games in the HockeyAllsvenskan.
His competitive Flyers debut was against rivals Glasgow Clan in the Challenge Cup on 7th September 2019 and he would go on to be an ever present in the team playing 55 matches across the Challenge Cup and League in his debut season. Eight games into his Flyers career he netted his first goal in a 5-2 Challenge Cup win against the Belfast Giants in Kirkcaldy. He would go on to end the season with 2 goals and 13 assists before the season was abruptly ended by the Covid pandemic and Jonas returned home where he would play for Östersunds IK in the 20/21 season as the EIHL went into hiatus. He returned to Fife for the 21/22 season and was appointed an alternate captain. He missed only three of the 64 games that season and returned 15 points which included 5 goals, three of which were game winners and his 8 assists on the powerplay was joint second best on the team. Jonas was appointed team captain for the 22/23 season and went on to put up 7 goals and 12 assists in 57 games with all but two assists, which were shorthanded, being at even strength play. Last season he played 56 games and scored 5 goals with 9 assists with 13 of those points coming again at even strength play. Jonas is 12th overall in EIHL appearances for the club with 229 games and his 19 goals along with 44 assists for 63 points is good for 19th all-time in points for the Flyers in the EIHL.
As Jonas moves on from the club, everyone at the Flyers would like to wish Jonas, Ruby, Lennie and the wider Emmerdahl family all the very best for the next chapter and the future ahead.
Thank You Captain!
