Weekend Recap – Week 23

On Friday night……

Fife Flyers 2 Manchester Storm 3   Shootout – Elite League

The Flyers lost the final period and are now winless at home this season in the eight matches that this has happened.

51 shots on goal for Flyers ties the season high with the previous game being against Glasgow on 24th September.

Max Humitz recorded a season high 10 shots in the game which is also a team best this season – the previous best being 9 by Troy Lajeunesse against the Coventry Blaze on 1st October.

Lucas Chiodo had his points streak end at 7 games.

Max Humitz extended his goals streak to three games and also now holds the active points streak at the same number of games.

The Flyers are now 0 for 4 at home and 2 for 2 on the road in shootouts this season.

The Flyers have lost their last 5 shootouts on home ice with Brayden Sherbinin the scorer of their last winning goal against the Manchester Storm in January 2023.

The Flyers have now been awarded 5 penalty shots this season and have scored twice – they have yet to concede a penalty shot this season.

All time in all EIHL competitions the Flyers have scored 7 and conceded 8 penalty shot goals.

On Saturday night……

Belfast Giants 7 Fife Flyers 4 – Elite League

In regular season play the Flyers have scored 10 goals in Belfast this season, this is the most goals scored by the Flyers against the Giants in a season in the league on their home ice.

The Flyers finished their regular season matches in Belfast with a P3 W 1 L 2 F 10 A 15 record – it was the first time in 5 seasons that they recorded any points in Belfast.

The 2 shots in the 2nd period equalled the fewest for Flyers in a period this season – the previous game was also against Belfast on Dec 22nd.

The Flyers scored their 4th shorthanded goal of the season with two of those being against the Belfast Giants who have now given up five in total this season.

The Flyers have 7 shorthanded goals against Belfast all time in all EIHL competitions, only the Dundee Stars and Edinburgh Capitals have conceded more than this against the Flyers.

Max Humitz had his team leading active points and goals streak end at three games.
