The FiFab Fife Flyers welcomed Manchester Storm to Fife Ice Arena for the first time this season as Flyers got their Gardiner Conference campaign underway, with Matt Sisca facing his former side for the first time since joining Fife in the summer.
Flyers got off to a great start when they found themselves on the powerplay after only 25 seconds when Trevor Johnson was called 2 minutes for hooking. Despite the pressure, Flyers were unable to take advantage of the man advantage, but they did get their 1st goal of the evening 3 seconds after Manchester returned to full strength. Ryan Dingle was the player who picked up a lose puck and rolled it into the Storm net, making it 1-0 at 2:28.
At the midway point of the opening period Flyers found themselves on the powerplay for the 3rd time in the game and Justin Fox produced a fantastic piece of skill to squeeze through the Manchester defence before firing the puck beyond Mike Clemente to make it 2-0 at 11:21.
Flyers were not done with the goals just yet, Ryan Dingle got his second goal of the game a few minutes later to make it 3-0 to Fife heading into the dressing room after the opening period.
Todd Dutiaume's side continued the 2nd period in much the same fashion as the opening period, which saw Manchester unable to cope with the offensive threat when Fife went on the attack.
Philippe Paquet scored Flyers 4th goal of the game after a wrist shot from the left at 26:39. Shayne Stockton made it 5-0 after a fantastic move from Chase Schaber at 28:20.
Flyers 2nd period scoring was wrapped up at 37:50 when Sebastien Thinel picked out Russ Moyer striding into the Manchester zone before firing the puck into the Manchester net to make it 6-0.
Into the final period and Flyers eased the pace a little as they looked to conserve energy for tomorrow's visit to Coventry. Justin Fox however did bag his second goal of the game just before the final buzzer when he fired the puck beyond the Manchester back-up netminder Phil Spanswick at 59:59.
