Chris Wands

Fife Flyers can confirm that local fan favourite Chris Wands has re-signed with the club for what will be his 15th season in blue, white and gold.

Wands, from Kirkcaldy originally joined the club back in the BNL and Northern League days, and has been a part of the Flyers EIHL journey, since they joined in 2011/12.

The 5’11, 200lbs, 30-year-old defenceman will be back wearing the #4 jersey for the Flyers 80th anniversary year.

Wands won Brit of the Year 2016/17 and his goal Vs Cardiff was nominated for Goal of the Year in the same season. Last year he was nominated for Brit of the Year, narrowly missing out to fellow defenceman Tommy Muir.

Assistant Coach Jeff Hutchins had the following to say on the signing “Wando has been steadily becoming more reliable year after year and we are going to look to him again to earn more minutes and provide depth on the backend.”

“He’s a pleasure to work with and continues to work hard, getting better each and every day. He works hard season after season, is reliable and well liked in the room.”

Chris added “It’s great to be back for another season with the club. After the success we had last year, it will be great to build on that this season and go after more silverware.”

“The team looks to be shaping up nicely and I’m excited to get back on the ice with the returning and new players.”

“This is a big year for the club as they celebrate their 80th anniversary and I am really pleased to be a part of the line-up.”
