Fife Flyers vs Coventry Blaze game preview

Face-off - 7:15pm

This Saturday the Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, host Danny Stewart's Coventry Blaze at Fife Ice Arena as part of a 3 game weekend which sees Flyers travel to Belfast on Friday and Murrayfield on Sunday.

Over the last two seasons Flyers have dominated the head to head series against the Blaze, recording 6 wins from 7 games as the sides prepare to face each other for the final time this season.

Last weekend Flyers split the weekend with 1 win and 1 loss having gone head to head with their west coast rivals Braehead Clan.

This season Flyers lead the head to head series with the Blaze having notched up two wins to Coventry's one.

Coventry's season so far has been a case of two tales with some hugely impressive performances so far but they have failed to produce these performances consistently.

Last weekend the Blaze suffered two big defeats, losing 9-1 away to Manchester and then a 7-4 home loss to the Guildford Flames.

The 5’11” left handed centre joined the Blaze in May following two hugely successful seasons with Flyers. In his debut Elite League year (2015/16), Dingle registered 22 goals, 35 assists for 57 points in 59 games, helping Fife reach the playoff finals weekend, and twice picking up the 'Forward of the Year' accolade. Dingle has registered 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 games this season in the EIHL.

The 6'0" right-shooting winger joined the Blaze from Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL where over 46 games last season, he posted 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) and 185 penalty minutes which included 15 fighting majors. In total, since turning professional with Gwinnett Gladiators in 2010, the Montreal native has skated in 341 ECHL regular season and playoff matches. During that time, he has registered 179 points (84 goals, 95 assists) and amassed 1,329 penalty minutes. This season Paquette has totalled 132 penalty minutes in 28 games for the Blaze.

Vallerand joined the club following a successful season in the well respected Austrian EBEL with HC Bolzano-Bozen. In 61 games, the left-shooter's 27 points (15+12) helped the Italian based side to a 4th place regular season finish and playoff semi-final berth. Before establishing a career in Europe, Vallerand was a stand-out in the ECHL with the Greenville Road Warriors. Over four years (2010-14), his 115 goals, 130 assists for 245 points in 272 regular season and Kelly Cup Playoff games see's him top the Greenville leaderboard for all-time goals, assists and points. So far this season in the EIHL, Vallerand has 4 goals + 2 assists in 4 games.
