 Fife Flyers vs Nottingham Panthers game preview

This Sunday the Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, welcome the Nottingham Panthers to Fife Ice Arena for the first time this season, with Todd Dutiaume's side having won the only league meeting between the sides earliers this season after an overtime win in Nottingham Arena.

Corey Neilson's side travel to Fife sitting 2 places below Fife in the league in 6th position with 43 points going into this weekend's fixtures.

Nottingham have added 28 year old Canadian forward Luke Pither to their roster this week as the Panthers look to re-ignite their league campaign.

In recent season Flyers have had a very successful run against Sunday's visitors, having recorded a clean sweep at Fife Ice Arena against the Panthers last season, as well as an overtime win in Nottingham. As a result Flyers have won 4 of the last 5 games against Corey Neilson's side.

Flyers travel to Dundee on Saturday night before hosting the Panthers on Sunday having come off their first 2 game weekend that saw them lose both games.

The 27-year-old holds a name well known in British hockey, and particularly in Fife as Brett's father, Fred Perlini iced with the Flyers in 1987/88, spending 11 seasons playing in the UK. Brett was a 2010 7th round NHL draft pick by the Anaheim Ducks and went on to play 5 seasons in the ECHL where he iced in a total of 298 games scoring 79 goals and 81 assists. This season, Perlini leads the Panthers in league points with 13 goals and 18 assists across 34 games.


Sauve, 27, was a 2008 second round draft pick by Vancouver Canucks. Sauve iced for the Canucks on 8 occasions and boasts huge AHL experience, having iced in over 240 games, scoring 8 goals and 39 assists over a period of 6 seasons. Sauve also holds top league European experience having iced last season in the KHL in with Medvescak Zagreb before finishing the season in the German DEL with EHC München. Sauve is currently second in points for Nottingham with 7 goals and 19 assists in 34 league games.


Another name that is well-known to Fife fans, with Jeff's father Dan Brown having spent 2 seasons in Kirkcaldy back in the mid-80s. Jeff, 27, is in his 4th pro year having made his professional debut with Brampton Beast in the ECHL where he iced for a season and a half, scoring 18 goals and 20 assists over 74 games. Brown is now in his second season with Nottingham having arrived during the summer of 2016 and has gone on to ice in over 100 games, scoring 25 goals and 33 assists.
