 Fife Flyers vs Edinburgh Capitals game summary

Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, faced old time rivals the Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday night at Fife Ice Arena for the first time at home since their highest ever Elite Ice Hockey League (10-1) win over their rivals back on Boxing Day.

Flyers went into the game without Reece Cochrane, Shayne Stockton (injured) and Carlo Finucci (suspension) but welcomed new signing Brady Ramsay to the line-up for the first time. Flyers went up against Capitals new netminder Tyler Beskorowany for the first time, having arrived last week.

It didn't take Flyers long to get on the scoreboard as Chase Schaber scored his first goal in 5 games after a well placed pass from Danick Gauthier at 3:04.

Flyers made it 2-0 following a magnificent save from netminder Andy Iles which led to a Flyers breakout with Evan Bloodoff doubling Flyers lead at 16:21, sending Todd Dutiaume's side into the dressing room 2 goals up at the end of the opening period.

Early in the second period Flyers found themselves on a 4 minute powerplay and as the powerplay ticked down defenceman Ian Young made it 3-0 at 26:38.

Less than a minute later James Isaacs dropped the gloves following a check from behind on Russ Moyer from Capitals Igor Valeyev, as well as both players receiving a 5 minute fighting major Valeyev received a 2+10 for checking from behind, and James Isaacs received a 2+10 for instigator.

Tommy Muir and Nikita Kolesnikovs then both dropped the gloves at 29:43 with both players receiving a 5 minute fighting major. The second period incidents didn't end there as Capitals Patrick Moisio then started throwing punches at Russ Moyer, Moisio received a 2+2 penalty for roughing and Moyer was also sent to the penalty box.

Liam Heelis made it 4-0 to Flyers after 34:33 on the powerplay. Pavel Vorobyev pulled a goal back for the Capitals at 35:16 to send the teams into the dressing room with the score 4-1.

Just 36 seconds into the third period when he found himself on a breakaway having come out of the penalty and fired beyond Capitals netminder Tyler Beskorowany to make it 5-1.

Peter LeBlanc wrapped up the scoring when he made it 6-1 at 56:11 to continue Flyers 100% winning rate agains the Capitals this season.
