 Fife Flyers vs Braehead Clan game summary

Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, welcomed their west coast rivals the Braehead Clan to Fife Ice Arena on Saturday evening in the first of a weekend home-away double header.

First period action saw the visitors apply most of the pressure for the opening 10 minutes however Andy Iles in the Flyers net was equal to everything that came in his direction.

As the opening period reached the midway point Todd Dutiaume's side got themselves back in the game and tested Ryan Nie in the Braehead net but were unable to find a way past him as the teams went into the dressing room tied at 0-0 after the opening 20 minutes.

Second period action saw the visitors take the lead when Mike Embach tip in a shot from Brendan Brooks at 25:15.

Shortly after taking the lead Braehead's Jacob Doty was sent to the penalty box for checking to the head and on the resulting powerplay Ian Young fired the puck through traffic to beat Ryan Nie in the Clan net at 32:52.

Evan Bloodoff put Flyers in the lead at 36:35 when he fired beyond Nie for Flyers second powerplay goal of the night and taking a 2-1 lead into the dressing room at the end of the second period.

Into the third period Braehead applied the majority of the pressure as they pressed for the tieing goal, eventually, having pulled their netminder Adam Brace tied the game at 58:56 to send the game into overtime.

Seven seconds into overtime Tyler Scofield found himself in the penalty box for holding the stick shortly followed by Craig Cescon who received a 2 minute penalty for cross checking. With the Flyers on a 5 on 3 powerplay Evan Bloodoff found a loose puck in the crowded crease and secured a fourth win from four games against Braehead.
